Manhattan Review has been teaching students around the world how to receive passing TOEFL scores since 1999. Manhattan Review's TOEFL tutors and instructors show our students how to make the most of their TOEFL prep efforts with targeted instruction, focused skill development, and test-taking tips and strategies. Doha students cannot find a more reliable and effective resource for all of their TOEFL prep necessities.
The TOEFL was originally developed to standardize the admissions process for non-native English speakers wishing to study at universities in the United States. First administered in 1964 by the Modern Language Association, an organization devoted to the scholarship of language and literature, the TOEFL is today used by over 9,000 universities, agencies, and institutions in more than 130 countries. The TOEFL is focused on English-language abilities in academic situations, including speaking, writing, reading, and listening, and the test helps ensure that students whose native language is not English have the English-language skills necessary for success in post-secondary study. It is important for TOEFL prep students to understand that passing the TOEFL and acquiring fluency in the English language are related but distinct skills. Manhattan Review's TOEFL prep courses and private tutoring are centered around teaching our students TOEFL exercises, subject matter, test-taking strategies, and time management skills that make it possible to pass the TOEFL with a reasonable amount of time and effort.
Manhattan Review's TOEFL prep classes and private tutoring can accommodate the extreme diversity of TOEFL requirements, which vary significantly by school and department. Boston University, for example, usually requires a composite score of 85 for its undergraduate applicants, with at least 18 listening, 22 reading, 23 speaking, and 22 writing. Undergraduate applicants to BU's School of Management, however, must have a total score of 91 (21 listening, 25 reading, 23 speaking, and 22 writing). International students must achieve the TOEFL scores required by their chosen institutions and programs, but the future professional rewards of elite post-secondary study are significant. Manhattan Review's past TOEFL clients have accepted lucrative and important positions at many Fortune 500 companies and Doha organizations, including Apple, United Technologies, Cisco Systems, Qatar Airways, Wi-Tribe, and Qatar Development Bank. I highly recommend Manhattan Review's TOEFL preparation course for anybody interested in taking the exam. I took an intensive course and took the exam only after 4 weeks of classes, and got a 116 score. The teaching method is excellent. It focuses on techniques and strategies that allow students to understand exactly what is required to succeed on examination day. Tutors are very flexible and willing to adapt to the student's schedule, as well as reachable and always ready to help and follow up on whatever the student might need.
